ENG vs IND Test Day 2: India Post 358 Runs as Stokes Takes 5 Wickets

ENG vs IND Test Day 2: India posted a total of 358 runs in their first innings on the second day of the fourth Test match, thanks to solid contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, Rishabh Pant, and Shardul Thakur. While almost all top-order batters got good starts, none could turn it into a big hundred. Captain Ben Stokes was the most successful bowler for England, picking up five wickets.


ENG vs IND Test Day 2: Strong Opening and Middle-Order Support

India started well as openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal stitched a steady 94-run partnership. KL scored 46 runs off 98 balls, while Jaiswal hit a confident 58 before being dismissed. Shubman Gill didn’t last long and was dismissed for 13, leaving India at 140/3.

Sai Sudharsan and vice-captain Rishabh Pant then steadied the innings. Pant played with good intent but had to leave the field due to an injury in the 68th over after scoring 37. Sai Sudharsan held one end and scored a gritty 61 runs with 7 fours before getting out at 235.

By the end of Day 1, Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur guided India to 264/4 in 83 overs.


ENG vs IND Test Day 2: Pant Returns but India Lose Wickets

Jadeja and Thakur started the second day’s play. However, Team India could only add 92 runs for the loss of 6 wickets on the second day. Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for 20 runs. Shardul Thakur made a solid knock of 41 runs in 88 balls.

After Shardul, India’s injured tiger Rishabh Pant came on the field. The fans welcomed Pant with applause and whistles. Pant kept the score moving by hitting singles and doubles. England continued to give blows in the meantime. Washington Sundar was caught out while trying to hit a big hit. Washington scored 27 runs. Debutant Anshul Kamboj could not even break the bat.

Then Jofra Archer bowled Pant clean. Pant scored 54 runs in 75 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. With this, Pant’s struggling innings came to an end. After Pant, Jasprit Bumrah was out, and India’s innings was over. Bumrah scored 4 runs. While Mohammed Siraj remained unbeaten on 5 runs. For England, captain Ben Stokes took the most wickets with 5. Jofra Archer dismissed three. While Chris Woakes and Liam Dawson took 1 wicket each.
