Mumbai: The Indian Women’s Cricket Team is gearing up for the Twenty20 World Cup and is currently engaged in a Twenty20 series against England at home.
The visitors, England, secured a winning start by clinching the first match. However, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed confidence in making a strong comeback.
Ahead of the second match, the Indian captain held a press conference and commented on various issues.
Players selected for the series against England and Australia will be given an extended window of opportunity, ensuring the formation of a strong team for the Twenty20 World Cup, said Harmanpreet.
The Indian captain further stated, “My dream is to win the World Cup, hence I request the selectors to pick a young team.”
Titus Sadhu missed the first match due to her unwell health. We aim to build the squad for the World Cup with the players chosen for the Twenty20 series against England.
Saika and Shreyanka Patil performed well in the previous match, showcasing strong confidence.
Harman emphasized the importance of ‘strategy,’ stating that over the years, there has been considerable focus on fielding. Fielding is an aspect that we need to improve.
The positive aspect of the last match was that every player worked hard and fielded well. Players were throwing themselves into the game.
As a captain and player, I believe our fielding should be robust, remarked India captain Harmanpreet Kaur.
