The International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed the winners of the ICC Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month for July on August 12. England’s Gus Atkinson took home the Men’s Player of the Month award, while Sri Lankan captain Chamari Atapattu won the Women’s Player of the Month award.

Gus Atkinson Shines in Debut Series

England bowler Gus Atkinson performed brilliantly in the Test series played against the West Indies. This was his debut Test series, in which he won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award along with an amazing performance. English player Gus took a total of 22 wickets in the Test series played between England and West Indies. During this, his average was 16.22 and he was also awarded the Player of the Series.

26-year-old Atkinson made his Test debut against the West Indies cricket team in July. He took a total of 12 wickets in his first match itself. Atkinson became the 8th bowler to take a 10-wicket haul while making his Test debut for England.

Chamari Atapattu Leads Sri Lanka to Glory

Sri Lankan captain Chamari Atapattu won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award. Under Chamari’s captaincy, the Sri Lankan team defeated the Indian women’s team in the final and won the Women’s Asia Cup title for the first time.

In the entire tournament, Chamari scored 304 runs at an average of 101. She played an unbeaten innings of 119 runs against Malaysia in July. At the same time, she scored 61 runs in the final and made a significant contribution in giving Sri Lanka a historic victory. Atapattu got this award due to their excellent performance. She won this award leaving behind India’s Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana

Both Atkinson and Atapattu have shown remarkable skill and determination, earning them well-deserved recognition on the global stage.
