IND-A vs AUS-A: The Women’s India A cricket team has finally registered their first win on the Australia tour. After losing the T20I series 3-0, India A made a strong comeback by winning the first ODI of the three-match series on August 13 in Brisbane. With this victory, India A, led by captain Radha Yadav, has taken a 1-0 lead in the series.
Australia Women A batted first and set a target of 215 runs. India chased it comfortably with 3 wickets in hand and 48 balls to spare, finishing at 215/7 in 42 overs with a run rate of 5.12. Yastika Bhatia was the star performer with a solid half-century. Contributions from Shafali Verma, Dhara Gujjar, Raghavi Bisht, and Radha Yadav ensured the team’s smooth win.
IND-A vs AUS-A: Strong Batting Performance from India A
Opening batters Yastika Bhatia and Shafali Verma gave India A a bright start, adding 77 runs for the first wicket. Shafali scored 36 runs off 31 balls with 5 boundaries before getting out. After that, Dhara Gujjar joined Yastika to build another strong partnership of 63 runs for the second wicket. Dhara scored 31 runs, while Yastika top-scored with 59 runs off 70 balls, including 7 fours.
Even after Yastika’s dismissal, Raghavi Bisht (25 runs) and Radha Yadav (19 runs) kept the scoreboard ticking. Lower-order contributions helped India reach the target without pressure.
Australia’s Struggle with the Bat
Earlier, Australia A won the toss and chose to bat first, but couldn’t play their full 50 overs. They were bowled out for 214 runs in 47.5 overs. Anika Leroyd was the standout batter, scoring an unbeaten 92 runs from 90 balls, while Rachel Trenaman made 51 runs. However, no other batter made a big impact, leading to a below-par total.
Indian bowlers delivered a disciplined performance. Captain Radha Yadav took 3 wickets, Titas Sadhu and Minnu Mani picked 2 wickets each, and Shubman MD Shakeel and Tanushree Sarkar took 1 wicket each.
With this win, India A have the momentum going into the remaining two ODIs and will look to seal the series in the next match.
