Team India Gears Up for Australia Tour with Day-Night Practice Match
Team India will tour Australia in November this year. The two teams will play 2 months of 5 Test matches and the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy. For the first time in the history of this series, 5 matches will be played this year. This includes a day-night game. India’s performance in the day-night match against Australia has been disappointing. But this year no such thing should happen, so a big decision has been taken to take precautions.
Team India will tour Australia for the first Test series after 2020-21. But the performance of Team India in the day-night match of the last tour was very disappointing. India’s second innings in the Test match in Adelaide ended with just 36 runs. But India then came back with a bang under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane and created history by winning that series.

Precautionary Measures: Day-Night Practice Match
But this year, to prevent such a thing from happening, it has been decided to play a 2-day day-night practice match between the two teams before the day-night match. Australia’s Prime Minister 11 is going to face India from 30th November to 1st December in Ubha Sangh. This match will be played in Canberra. The Indian team has not played a single day-night test match in the last 2 years. So this match is going to be very beneficial for India in terms of practice. Also, this is going to be the second Test series for head coach Gautam Gambhir. So Gambhir’s experience will also be useful here.

While India has won three out of four day-night Tests played at home, their only overseas day-night Test resulted in a loss against Australia. Conversely, Australia boasts an impressive record, winning 11 out of 12 day-night matches. This year, Team India aims to change that narrative.
