Scams Uncovered in Rajasthan Cricket Association

A significant scandal has come to light involving the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) related to stadium construction and IPL matches. The ad hoc committee of RCA has lodged a formal complaint at Jyoti Nagar police station in Jaipur against three former officials—Bhavani Samota, Rampal Sharma, and Rajesh Bhadana—who were part of the executive committee led by Vaibhav Gehlot, son of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. The investigation regarding Vaibhav Gehlot himself remains pending.

363-Page Report Submitted to Police

The ad hoc committee, chaired by BJP MLA Jaideep Bihani, has handed over a comprehensive 363-page report to the police, detailing the financial irregularities and scams conducted during the previous Rajasthan Cricket Association administration. According to the committee, there is substantial evidence against Samota, Sharma, and Bhadana, who signed off on several critical documents. The committee has called on Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore to ensure strict action is taken against those involved.

Misuse of Funds in Stadium Construction

The root of the scandal lies in the construction of the Chaump Stadium in Jaipur, a project initiated during Ashok Gehlot’s government. Although construction began, it was later halted. The newly elected BJP government then established an ad hoc committee to investigate the matter. The investigation revealed that a company from Chhattisgarh, with no experience in stadium construction, was awarded the contract. Initially, the project was estimated to cost Rs 300 crore, but this figure was inflated to Rs 500 crore to benefit specific individuals. Further irregularities were found in various payments related to the project.

This scandal has raised serious concerns about corruption and misuse of public funds within the Rajasthan Cricket Association, calling for an immediate and thorough investigation by the authorities.
