Team India Struggles with Batting Collapse

The second day of the first Test between Team India and New Zealand is over. On the second day, a total of 226 runs were scored in 81.2 overs for the loss of 13 wickets. Team India won the toss and decided to bat. But Team India was embarrassed. Team India scored the lowest total at home. Team India could score only 46 runs in the first innings. New Zealand in reply scored 180 runs in 50 overs for the loss of 3 wickets by the end of the day’s play. New Zealand led by 134 runs.

New Zealand bowled Team India for 46 runs in 31.2 overs. This was the third-lowest score for Team India. Only two from Team India could reach double figures. 5 people could not even crack a pumpkin. Others were also disappointed. Rishabh Pant scored 20 runs and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 13 runs. Virat Kohli, Sarfraz Khan, KL Rahul, R Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja could not even open an account.

Captain Rohit Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav both scored 2 runs each. Jasprit Bumrah takes 1 run off the field. Mohammad Siraj scored 4 runs not out. Matt Henry took the most wickets from New Zealand with 5 wickets. William O’Rourke dismissed four. So Team Southee took 1 wicket.

New Zealand then got off to a promising start. Captain Tom Latham and Devon Conway both put on an opening partnership of 67 runs. Latham was dismissed for 15 runs. Conway and Will Young then added 75 runs for the second wicket. Then Young got out after scoring 33 runs in 73 balls. After a few overs, R Ashwin gave New Zealand a big blow. Ashwin stopped Devon Conway from a century by clean bowling. Conway became a victim of the Nervous Nineties. He missed his century by just 9 runs. Conway scored 91 runs off 105 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 11 fours.

Indian Bowlers Fight Back

After that, the duo of Rachin Ravindra and Darrell Mitchell played a cautious game till the end of the day and did not lose a single wicket. The pair returned unbeaten. Rachin scored 22 off 34 balls with 2 fours while Darrell scored 14 off 39 balls with 1 four. R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja have taken 1 wicket each from Team India.
