Team India Clinches Series Victory with Smriti Mandhana’s Century
Women’s team India defeated New Zealand by 6 wickets in the third and final match to win the 3-match series by a margin of 2-1. New Zealand challenged Team India to 233 runs for victory. Team India easily completed this challenge on the strength of Smriti Mandhana’s century and Captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s unbeaten half-century and losing 4 wickets.
Team India scored 236 runs in 44.2 overs and won the series. The final match was organized at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

India’s Batting Performance
The opening pair of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana could not give Team India a good start. Team India lost their first wicket for 16 runs. Shafali Verma was dismissed for 12 runs. Smriti and Yastika Bhatia then shared a partnership of 76 runs for the second wicket. The pair were set. But New Zealand captain Sophie Devine broke the pair. Yastika contributed 35 runs off 49 balls with the help of 4 fours.
Smriti and captain Harmanpreet Kaur then put on a century partnership for the third wicket to pave the way for Team India’s victory. Both of them shared a partnership of 117 runs for the third wicket. Meanwhile, Smriti scored the eighth and record century in ODI career. Smriti scored 100 runs with the help of 10 fours. After Smriti’s dismissal, both Harmanpreet and Jemimah Rodrigues took Team India closer to victory. But Jemimah bounced back with 22 runs.
After that, the pair of Harmanpreet Kaur and Tejal Hasbanis made India victorious. Harmanpreet scored 59 not out with 6 fours in 63 balls. Tejal returned unbeaten on zero. Hannah Rowe took 2 wickets for New Zealand. Apart from captain Sophie Devine, Fran Jonas took 1 wicket.
