India’s Tour of Sri Lanka
India’s tour of Sri Lanka starts on July 26. On Thursday, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board announced the schedule for the 3 ODI and 3 T20I series. At the same time, Sri Lanka’s T20 captain Wanindu Hasaranga also left the captaincy before this tour.
This tour will be the first appointment of the newly appointed head coach of the Indian team, Gautam Gambhir. Apart from this, former Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasuriya will also start his international coaching career from this tour. As per the schedule, the first match of the T20 series will be played at Pallekele on July 26 at 7:00 PM. The ODI series will start from August 1 in Colombo. Currently, both teams have not been announced for this tour.

Captaincy and Team Selection
With Rohit Sharma retiring from T20s, India needs a new captain. Hardik Pandya is the frontrunner for the T20 captaincy and might also lead the ODI team. However, KL Rahul is another strong candidate for the ODI captaincy.
Currently, India is playing a 5-match T20I series against Zimbabwe with a young team led by Shubman Gill. The series is tied 2-1, with India losing the first match but winning the next two.

Rest for Senior Players
The BCCI may rest the senior players of India’s T-20 World Cup winning team, captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah from the Sri Lanka tour. Either Hardik Pandya or KL Rahul can be given the ODI captaincy.
Wanindu Hasaranga Steps Down as Captain
Wanindu Hasaranga has said in his resignation letter to the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, ‘As a player, I will always do my best for Sri Lanka. As always, I will support my team and leadership and Hasaranga became No. 1 in the ICC all-rounder rankings a day ago.
