Impressive Debut Cut Short

In fact, Mayank Yadav caught everyone’s attention by taking 6 wickets in three T20 Internationals in his brilliant debut series against Bangladesh. But, BCCI ignored him in the team selected for South Africa, because he has been injured again.

According to a report in The Telegraph, Mayank Yadav has been ruled out of the team due to a back injury, which is different from the side strain that forced him out of the field after playing only 4 matches in IPL 2024. Earlier it was planned that he would play Ranji Trophy from the fourth or fifth round, but now these plans have also been canceled. Mayank also did not get a chance to join as a reserve fast bowler for the Australia tour.

Potential Return in February 2025

A BCCI official said that he is having some problems with his back. It could also be a case of stress fracture. According to the NCA (National Cricket Academy), he could have played in the fourth or fifth round of the Ranji Trophy, but now it is not possible. He is again out for a long time.

Mayank’s coach Devendra Sharma said that the team management has forbidden him to play. In such a situation, he may return in the ODI series against England in February. At present, he may return to the ODI series against England in February 2025.
