Inspiring Journey: Security Guard’s Daughter Makes Waves in WPL with ‘Garudzep’

Meghna Singh, an inspiring female athlete hailing from a regular family in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor village, has emerged as a beacon for many young women.

She clinched a place in the Gujarat Giants for the 2024 Women’s Premier League after receiving a bid of Rs 30 lakh in the Women’s Premier League 2024 auction, marking her as the first player selected in Saturday’s auction.

Meghna’s love for cricket ignited at an early age, initiating her cricket lessons at just 10 years old. Witnessing her commitment, Meghna’s father, Vijay Singh, enrolled her at the Bijnor Cricket Training Centre.

Renowned for her bowling prowess and batting expertise, Meghna Singh’s journey from a middle-class family to the Indian Women’s Premier League epitomizes her unwavering dedication.

Despite her father’s role as a security guard and her mother serving as an Asha Sevika, both persevering through challenging circumstances, Meghna’s triumph underscores her persistence and the steadfast support from her parents.
