IPL 2025 Playoffs: The South African players selected for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia might miss the IPL 2025 playoffs. Cricket South Africa (CSA) has made it clear that national duty is more important than league cricket. CSA’s Director of Cricket, Enoch Nkwe, said that playing in the WTC Final is their top priority, and all Test players must join the national team by May 26.
Nkwe also said that they are in talks with the BCCI and IPL teams, but the schedule for WTC preparations will not change. He added that it is a personal choice for each player, but the focus remains on international cricket.
Eight South African Players in IPL Teams
| Player Name | IPL Team |

| Kagiso Rabada | Gujarat Titans |
| Lungi Ngidi | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) |
| Tristan Stubbs | Delhi Capitals |
| Aiden Markram | Lucknow Super Giants |
| Ryan Rickelton | Mumbai Indians |
| Corbin Bosch | Mumbai Indians |
| Marco Jansen | Punjab Kings |
| Wiaan Mulder | Sunrisers Hyderabad |
All of these teams are still in the race for the IPL 2025 playoffs, and losing key players could be a big blow for them.
IPL 2025 to Resume from May 17
Due to rising tension between India and Pakistan, the BCCI had suspended IPL 2025 for a week. Most foreign players returned home during this break. Now, the BCCI has confirmed that the IPL will restart on May 17, beginning with the RCB vs KKR match. The final will be played on June 3.
To help teams fill gaps, BCCI has allowed franchises to sign temporary replacement players. However, these players cannot be retained for IPL 2026.
