Is Ravichandran Ashwin Fully Fit? Former Indian Batter Raises Questions Ahead of Pune Test

India Aims for Comeback in 2nd Test, Aakash Chopra Questions Sundar's Inclusion

India Aims for Comeback in 2nd Test, Aakash Chopra Questions Sundar’s Inclusion.

Team India, captained by Rohit Sharma, had to face defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the first Test match played in Bengaluru. With this defeat, India has fallen behind in the series. Its effort is to make a comeback in the second Test match starting on October 24 in Pune, but before that former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has raised questions about the team.

After the first Test match, Team India has included all-rounder Washington Sundar in its team. Aakash Chopra has raised questions about this, the center of which is Ravichandran Ashwin.

Why Sundar When Ashwin is There?

Sundar is also an off-spinner and bats well. Ashwin is also a similar all-rounder. Aakash has raised questions about this when Ashwin is there, then why is Sundar needed?

Talking on his YouTube channel, Aakash said, “Sundar’s name has come into the team. This was not expected. He has scored a century recently. He played against Delhi from Tamil Nadu. Sai Sudarshan was also there and scored a double century and Sundar scored a century.”

He said, “Sundar has got a place in the team. Here a question comes to mind, what is the team thinking? Does the team want another spinner? The team already has good fast bowlers in reserve. Is Ashwin not fully fit?

Concerns About Ashwin’s Fitness

Ashwin got the chance to bowl late in the first Test match. He bowled only two overs in the fourth innings. Aakash has linked this to Sundar’s inclusion in the team. He said, “Sundar has been included because he was given only two overs on the last day. He got two overs when the match was about to end. It does not make sense that you do not let Ashwin bowl. What is the logic behind this? You did not let him bowl, does he have any injury and that is why you have selected Sundar, a player like him, in the team.

India’s Squad for 2nd Test
