Sun Group’s Kavya Maran made a 100% deal in The Hundred League team for Rs 1000 crore.
Another Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owner has expanded into The Hundred. Sun Network’s Kavya Maran is set to make her presence felt in The Hundred after successful ventures in the IPL and SA20.
Indian Premier League franchise owners have now turned to foreign cricket leagues as well. Recently, Mumbai Indians owner Mukesh Ambani’s company Reliance Industries and Lucknow SuperGiants owner Sanjiv Goenka confirmed their participation in England’s tournament The Hundred. In this sequence, Sun Network has also entered, which is the company of Kavya Maran’s father Kalanithi Maran. Sunrisers Hyderabad is a team of this group. Now Sun Group has also set foot in The Hundred.

Kavya Maran Acquires Northern Superchargers:
Sun Group has placed a bet for the team Northern Superchargers. Sun Group left behind other parties in this race by placing the highest bid. Whose host county is Yorkshire. Sun Group has agreed to buy 100% of Superchargers by placing £100 million (about Rs 1000 crore) for 100% franchise. That is, they have bought a 51% stake in Yorkshire along with ECB’s 49% stake. Both Yorkshire and Sun Group will now have to finalize the agreement within eight weeks of the end of the sale of Hundred. This is the first team to be sold directly.
Kavya Maran’s Northern Superchargers Becomes Her Third Franchise
Kavya Maran ensured the participation of two teams and now has a third team in her portfolio. In 2012, this group entered the IPL by buying Sunrisers Hyderabad. The team has won the IPL championship once so far. In 2023, Sunrisers Hyderabad started making their debut in foreign leagues by purchasing Eastern Cape in South Africa’s T20 league. They have won the titles of the first two seasons of SA20 and have hoisted their flag. On the other hand, Northern Superchargers, a team of The Hundred League, has not won a single title yet. Last season, both the teams finished fourth in the men’s or women’s competition.
