In the Super-4 stage match of the Asia Cup 2023, the Indian team made an aggressive start. After Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul dominated the Pakistani bowlers. With centuries from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, the Indian team set a formidable target of 357 runs for Pakistan. However, the Pakistani team faltered, managing only 128 runs in 32 overs. Kuldeep Yadav played a crucial role in this by taking five wickets for just 25 runs.
Virat and Rahul Partnership
Virat Kohli scored 122 runs in 94 balls, and he was named the Man of the Match. His partnership with KL Rahul, who scored 111 runs in 106 balls, contributed significantly to India’s total of 356/2 in 50 overs. India was successful in adding 105 runs in the final 10 overs.
Pakistan’s chase did not start well as Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Imam ul Haq in the 5th over, and captain Babar Azam struggled, scoring only 10 runs in 24 balls before being bowled by Hardik Pandya in the 11th over. Rain interrupted the match for over an hour, and when it resumed, Shardul Thakur quickly dismissed Mohammad Rizwan on just 2 runs, making it 47/3.
Kuldeep Yadav brilliant bowling
Fakhar Zaman and Agha Salman tried to revive Pakistan’s innings, but Kuldeep Yadav’s brilliant bowling caused problems. Fakhar Khan was dropped by Rohit Sharma, but he couldn’t make the most of it and was bowled by Kuldeep Yadav for 27 runs.
Salman was lbw for 23 runs. Pakistan struggled to reach 96/5, and Kuldeep Yadav continued to take wickets, dismissing Shadab Khan (6) and Iftikhar Ahmed (23) in successive overs. In the next over, Shaheen Shah Afridi hit a six, but Kuldeep Yadav ensured India’s victory by bowled out Fahim Ashraf (4). Haris Rauf and Nasim Shah were unable to bat due to injuries.
India won this match against Pakistan by a significant margin of 228 runs.
