Big Buys and Key Players: PBKS IPL 2025 Auction Highlights
In the IPL 2025 mega auction, Punjab Kings bought Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore. Shreyas became the second most expensive player in IPL history. Iyer can be seen captaining Punjab Kings in the upcoming season. Let us tell you, he is the first captain in IPL history to have led two different franchises to the finals. He led Delhi Capitals to the finals in 2020 and then Kolkata Knight Riders became champions under his leadership in 2024.
Punjab used the RTM card to bring Arshdeep Singh back to the team for Rs 18 crore. The young fast bowler played a big role in India’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2024. In the final against South Africa, he took two wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs.
And was the second most successful bowler in the tournament with 17 wickets in 8 matches. Punjab also bought spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for Rs 18 crore. He has become the most expensive spinner in IPL history.
At the same time, the franchise has also strengthened its team by buying Australian all-rounders Marcus Stoinis (11 crore) and Glenn Maxwell (4.20 crore). Punjab also bought players like Marco Jansen (7 crores), Azmatullah Umarzai (2.40 crores), Nehal Wadhera (4.20 crores), Josh Inglis (2.60 crores).
