R Ashwin Becomes Highest Wicket-Taker in World Test Championship

Indian all-rounder R Ashwin achieved a special record in the second Test match against New Zealand at the MCA Stadium in Pune. In the second Test match, Ashwin gave New Zealand a blow after blow. With this, he has now become the highest wicket-taker in the ICC World Test Championship.

R Ashwin gave the Indian team their first success in his very first over. With his second wicket as Will Young, he became the top wicket-taker in the history of the World Test Championship.

Ashwin Surpasses Nathan Lyon

In 39 matches R Ashwin surpassed Nathan Lyon to reach 188 wickets as Will Young wicket. The Australian spinner has taken 187 wickets in 43 Tests. Australian captain Pat Cummins is third in the list. He has taken 175 wickets in 42 matches. Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is seventh in the list with 124 wickets in 30 matches.

R Ashwin is the second-highest wicket-taker for India. He has collected more than 530 wickets in 104 matches. His number comes after the legend Anil Kumble. Anil Kumble has taken 619 wickets in 236 matches in his Test career. Apart from bowling, Ashwin has also performed extremely well in batting. He has 3438 runs with 6 centuries and 14 fifties.
