Ravichandran Ashwin achieved another remarkable milestone in Test cricket. During the second Test match being played between India and New Zealand, the New Zealand team started well by choosing to bat first and both the batsmen added 30 runs for the first wicket. However, Rohit Sharma introduced Ashwin from one end and he not only got the first wicket for the Indian team by dismissing New Zealand captain Tom Latham in the very first over but also achieved a new record in Test cricket.
Ravichandran Ashwin becomes the Highest Wicket-Taker in the World Test Championship
Ashwin has become the highest wicket-taker in the WTC. Previously, this record was held by Australia’s legendary spinner, Nathan Lyon. Ravichandran Ashwin took the 188th wicket in WTC by dismissing the New Zealand captain. Ashwin gave India another breakthrough by dismissing the dangerous batsman Devon Conway.
Ashwin has taken 189 wickets in 39 matches, while Nathan Lyon took 187 wickets in 43 matches.

Ashwin is the second-highest wicket-taker from India in the Test format. He has also taken 541 wickets so far. Anil Kumble is the highest wicket-taker for India in the Test format.
Globally, Ashwin has taken the seventh-highest number of wickets in the Test format Ashwin is one place behind Australia’s fast bowler Glenn McGrath. He will soon break his record as well.
