Shreyas Iyer Shines with a Century in Ranji Trophy

Young batsman Shreyas Iyer, who is out of Team India, has finally got a chance. Shreyas made a splash for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy by scoring a stunning century against Maharashtra. Shreyas completed the streak with an explosive knock on the Maharashtra bowlers on the second day of the match.

Shreyas came in to bat at number five after skipper Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed. Shreyas kept Mumbai’s scoreboard moving by supporting youngster Ayush Mhatre. Both of them made a double-century partnership and took Mumbai to 300.

Struggles Before Success

Ayush Mhatre then got out. Ayush had a chance to score a double century. But he was unlucky. Ayush scored 176 runs. Shreyas then completed his century with the help of 9 fours and 3 sixes in 131 balls. Shreyas did another feat during this inning. Shreyas also completed the milestone of 6 thousand runs in first-class cricket.

Shreyas Iyer had a disappointing start to the 2024-2025 domestic season. Shreyas scored half-centuries in 2 out of 6 innings in the Duleep Trophy tournament. Shreyas could not even crack a pumpkin twice. Shreyas scored a total of 154 runs with this. Shreyas also scored 57 and 8 runs respectively in 2 innings of the Irani Cup. Shreyas also got out for zero against Baroda in the first match of the Ranji Trophy.

Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav decided to play first-class cricket for a comeback in Tests. But Surya failed to stake a claim in the Test. Surya returned with 7 runs in 14 balls with 1 four.
