Ravichandran Ashwin Retires from IPL: After international cricket, India’s legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has now said goodbye to IPL as well. Today, on 27th August, he tweeted and informed that he will no longer be seen in IPL. Currently, there are talks of releasing Ashwin from the CSK team, for which Ravi Ashwin had also sought clarification from the team management, but there was no update on this.

This announcement came at a time when there were talks of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) planning to release him before the IPL trade window. Ashwin had earlier asked the management for clarity on the matter, but did not receive a proper response. Before any official trade decision was taken, Ashwin chose to say goodbye to the IPL on his own terms.

Ashwin’s Journey in IPL

Ashwin’s journey in the IPL began in 2009 with Chennai Super Kings, the team with which he built his reputation as a top-class spinner. Ravi Ashwin, playing for different franchises like Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Rajasthan Royals, returned to CSK in 2024 when the franchise bought him for ₹9.75 crores.

Despite not meeting expectations during the last season, Ashwin’s impact on the league has been significant. Throughout his career, he has played 221 matches, taken 187 wickets, and contributed with the bat by scoring 833 runs.

Ashwin’s Emotional Farewell

Ashwin shared a post from his official ex account today and said- ‘Today is a special day and hence a special beginning. It is said that every end brings a new beginning. My time as an IPL cricketer ends today, but my journey of new sports experiences in different leagues around the world begins today.

I would like to thank all the franchises that gave me great memories and relationships. Most importantly, I thank the IPL and BCCI, who have given me so much so far. I am excited to enjoy the time ahead and make the best use of it.

Ashwin retired from international cricket during the Australia tour in 2024, which surprised everyone, and now he has done something similar before the IPL. Ashwin has taken 187 wickets in a total of 221 matches since 2009 and scored a total of 833 runs.
