Ravindra Jadeja in Ranji Trophy: Team India’s defeat in Australia has given way to debates about senior players not preferring to participate in red-ball cricket i.e. domestic cricket.

Subsequently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India, BCCI took note of the declining performance in the international arena and came up with a 10-point strategy to improve for the future.

Ravindra Jadeja Set to Return in Ranji Trophy for Saurashtra

After stars Rohit and Pant made themselves available for their respective states, India’s other star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is not set to play for Saurashtra in the upcoming Ranji Trophy match.

Jadeja is expected to play against Delhi. Notably, the Board of India has now made it mandatory for all players to play in the domestic circuit. However, if they do not follow the newly issued guidelines, they may face consequences.

“Jadeja has come for practice today. He will play the next match,” Saurashtra Cricket Association president Jaydev Shah told The Indian Express.

Rishabh Pant Joins Delhi Squad; Kohli to Miss Ranji Match

Meanwhile, star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been included in the Delhi squad recently announced and confirmed by the DDCA (Delhi District Cricket Association).

Hence, Pant is likely to field in the upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra. However, India’s veteran batsman Virat Kohli made himself unavailable for the Delhi match due to a neck injury.

Besides, India’s Champions Trophy squad was announced on Saturday. Speaking to reporters, BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar highlighted the importance of local cricket and why all players should participate in it for the betterment of Indian cricket.

Agarkar Urges Players to Strengthen Indian Cricket by Playing Locally

“I… “Don’t think this is an order. This is one of the things that BCCI has made clear. But as I said, as selectors, we expect people to play when they are available because it can only strengthen our local organizational structure,” Agarkar said.

“Not just for their form or their fitness and playing cricket, it can only strengthen our local organizational structure. So, we expect everyone to play when the time comes,” he concluded.
