Money rained on the world-champion Indian team Team India, led by captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid, won the Twenty20 World Cup 2024. After this historic victory, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a reward of Rs 125 crore to Team India. Coach Rahul Dravid was going to get an amount of Rs 5 crore from this award. However, Dravid refused to take the additional bonus. Dravid has refused to take the additional bonus as a coach. It is being told that following in the footsteps of  Dravid, Rohit has also refused to take the bonus amount.

Generous Moves by Dravid and Rohit

According to reports, Rohit Sharma had demanded a cut in his bonus amount. Rohit wanted to cut a large part of the bonus of the support staff. Rohit raised his voice for other employees as discussions were going on on how to distribute the prize money of Rs 125 crore given by the BCCI. The support staff getting a very low salary, Rohit said that the support staff should not be given a low salary. If the money falls short, that amount should be deducted from my bonus.

Distribution of Prize Money

The BCCI announced a total reward of Rs 125 crore for the World Cup-winning team. This amount will be shared among the players and the 42 members of the coaching staff. Each of the 15 players and coach Rahul Dravid was set to receive Rs 5 crore. Other coaching staff members, like Vikram Rathod, Paras Mhambrey, and T. Dilip, were to get Rs 2.5 crore each.

Rahul Dravid’s refusal to take the bonus means he will only receive Rs 2.5 crore, just like the other coaching staff. Dravid’s and Rohit Sharma’s decisions show their generosity and concern for the entire team’s well-being.

Team Spirit and Generosity

Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid has refused to take an additional bonus for winning the World Cup. Rahul Dravid demanded that he should be given the same salary as other coaching staff. This means that Rahul Dravid is ready to give up Rs 2.5 crore from the prize money of Rs 5 crore that he gets. He will get only Rs 2.5 crore like other members of the coaching staff.
