Rohit Sharma News: The first match of the five-Test series between India and Australia is to be held on November 22. India had to face a 0-3 defeat in the three-Test series against New Zealand on home soil and its hopes of reaching the final of the World Test Championship suffered a setback.
In such a situation, the five-match Border-Gavaskar series is very important, because India’s chances of reaching the final depend on this series.
Rohit Sharma’s Uncertain Participation
Many media reports have claimed that Indian captain Rohit Sharma may miss the first match of this series. But it seems that things are changing completely. It is reported that Rohit Sharma may go on a tour of Australia with other players of the team in the first batch on November 10. However, Rohit’s departure does not ensure that he will play in the first match of the series.
According to the India Today report, Rohit will fly to Australia with the first set of Indian players on Sunday, while the second batch will fly on Monday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) failed to send all the players together in a single commercial flight, following which the team had to be split into two batches.
Team India Travels in Two Groups
Although Rohit will be with the team for the series opener, his mere presence does not confirm his participation in the Perth Test. Rohit Sharma may return home by the time the match starts. But, in a situation where he can participate in the opening match, it seems Rohit wants to give himself a chance. India Today quoted a source as saying, “He is traveling but his participation in the first Test is not confirmed yet. What happens next in this regard will be seen. His availability depends on his matter.”
After the conclusion of the New Zealand Test series, Rohit was asked about his availability for the Perth match. He had said, “I am not sure about my availability for the first Test in Perth, fingers crossed.”

Focus on Team Strategy
Let us tell you, that Rohit was present in the 6-hour meeting of BCCI selection committee chief Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir. Many important points were discussed in the meeting, including the reasons for India’s 0-3 defeat against the Kiwi team.
Regarding this meeting, a PTI source said, “It was a six-hour marathon meeting, which was obviously on the cards after such a defeat. India is going on a tour of Australia, and the BCCI will want to ensure that the team is back on track and will want to know how the think-tank is working on this.
