IND-A vs AUS-A: Before the Border Gavaskar Trophy, under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Team India A has to lose both matches on the Australia tour. Australia A defeated India in the first practice match of 4 days. Then both KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel were included for the second and final match.
Dhruv Jurel justified his selection with half-centuries in both innings. But KL Rahul, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Abhimanyu Iswaran all the three batsmen failed.
Dhruv Jurel Shines Amid India A’s Struggles
India lost the second match and Australia won the 2-match series by a one-sided margin of 2–0. India A challenged Australia A by 168 runs for victory. Australia A easily completed this challenge by losing 4 wickets on the third day. Australia A also won the second match by 6 wickets.
This second unofficial test match was organized in Melbourne. Other batsmen of Team India failed. But Dhruv Jurel scored half-centuries in both innings to stake his claim for Rohit Sharma’s place for the Perth Test. Dhruv scored 80 and 68 runs in the first and second innings respectively. Dhruv’s 68 runs in the second innings helped India reach 229 runs. So Australia got a challenge of 168 runs.
Australia A’s Steady Chase
Australia A got off to a disappointing start. Prasidh Krishna gave Australia 2 hits on the second and third balls of the first over. Fame hasn’t spoiled both Marcus Harris and Cameron Bancroft. Captain Nathan McSweeney then scored 25 runs. Nathan was dismissed by Mukesh Kumar.
Oliver Davies was then shown off the field by Tanush Kotian. That made Australia A 73 for 4. But then Sam Konstas and Beau Webster put on an unbeaten 96-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
