On the third ball, Zakir Ali was caught by Aiden Markram, bringing Rishad Hausain to the field. Rishad took a single, putting Mahmudullah back on strike with 6 runs needed from 2 balls. Mahmudullah’s next shot was caught by Markram on the boundary, leaving Bangladesh needing 6 runs off the final ball. Taskin Ahmed could only score a single, sealing a dramatic victory for South Africa. Maharaj’s remarkable last over saw him take 2 wickets and give away just 4 runs.

Henrik Klaassen and David Miller’s 79-run partnership for the fifth wicket helped South Africa reach 113 for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Henrik Klaasen and David Miller top scored for South Africa with 46 and 29 respectively. While others knelt before the Bangladeshi bowlers. Tanzim Hasan Saqib dismissed three from Bangladesh.
