Shakib Al Hasan Bowling Test Result: The Bangladesh Cricket Board is currently in a quandary as they await the results of star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s bowling test. His eligibility for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy squad will be determined with the results expected in a few days.
Shakib Al Hasan Awaits Bowling Test Results for Champions Trophy Selection
Shakib’s bowling was questioned during a county match for Surrey in England in September 2024. His suspicious actions were reported, leading to his suspension by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
As per ICC rules, the suspension prevented him from bowling in all forms of the game. An initial trial at Loughborough University revealed irregularities in his actions, which kept him out of international and domestic cricket.
The veteran recently underwent his second bowling test at a facility in Chennai. BCB is now awaiting these results before finalizing the squad for the prestigious Champions Trophy, with the ICC giving January 12 as the final date to announce the squad.

BCB Supports Shakib Al Hasan’s Return Amid Bowling Action Concerns
Shakib’s possible inclusion has already received support from BCB and influential figures in the team. Board president Farooq Ahmed has publicly expressed his desire to see Shakib play again, while ODI captain Najmul Hussain Shanto has also voiced his opinion. Both feel that the all-rounder’s experience could prove invaluable in Bangladesh’s tournament.
“Very shocked to hear that Shakib failed the bowling action test [at Loughborough]. I will have to find out if he has re-tested himself. We will have to wait for that information. The board has not fully briefed us on Shakib. I think Every minute is important. I am sure we will clear it in a day or two,” said BCB chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hussain as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
Shakib Al Hasan Works to Fix Bowling Action with Coach’s Guidance
Meanwhile, Shakib is working hard to fix his bowling action issues. Coach Mohammad Salahuddin has been instrumental in guiding Shakib through video consultation. Salahuddin opened up about the minor changes required to bring Shakib back into action.
“He has already gone through the test. I know the A-Z of Shakib’s bowling. I couldn’t go to train him (in India). I think he knows what he wants to do. We discussed some of his things in terms of his arm. “We don’t need to make a big change in action. He can do it quickly. But when an allegation comes, a person usually has to think about it,” Salahuddin told Jamuna TV on Tuesday.
