The Indian Women’s cricket team continued their dominance over South Africa in the Test series, building on their success in the ODI series. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana set a new record with a 292-run partnership for the first wicket, the highest in women’s Test cricket. Smriti Mandhana, who was the top scorer in the ODI series, contributed 149 runs from 161 balls, hitting 27 fours and 1 six. She was eventually dismissed in the 52nd over by Delami Tucker.

Shafali Verma shone brightly, scoring a double century and becoming the second Indian woman to achieve this feat in Test cricket after Mithali Raj. Shafali scored 205 runs from 197 balls, with 23 fours and 8 sixes, breaking several records along the way. At just 20 years and 152 days old, she became the second-youngest woman to score a double century in Test cricket, following Mithali Raj, who achieved this at 19 years and 254 days against England in 2002.

- Youngest Indian to Score a Double Century:Β Shafali Verma became the youngest Indian to score a double century in Test cricket, breaking Vinod Kambliβs record (21 years and 32 days) set against England in 1993. She also broke Sunil Gavaskar’s record, who scored a double century at 21 years and 277 days against the West Indies in 1971.
- Second Indian Opener with a Double Century: She became the second Indian opener after Virender Sehwag to score a double century in Test cricket.
- Run-Out After Double Century:Β Shafali Verma became the third Indian cricketer to be run out after scoring a double century, following Sanjay Manjrekar and Rahul Dravid.
