Leading the Indian fast bowling attack, Mohammed Siraj put on a spectacular show in the Asia Cup 2023 final by dismantling the Sri Lankan top order.
Sri Lanka’s captain, Dasun Shanaka, made the right call by choosing to bat first, but things quickly went south for his team. India’s bowlers capitalized on the cloudy conditions, making the ball move unpredictably. Jasprit Bumrah struck first, dismissing Kusal Perera without a run.
However, the real game-changer was Mohammed Siraj, who bowled with remarkable skill and precision in the opening spell. In the fourth over of the match, Siraj orchestrated a stunning turnaround by taking four wickets. He began by having Pathum Nissanka caught at a point on the very first ball of the over. Then, he followed it up with the dismissals of Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka on the third and fourth deliveries. Samarawickrama was trapped lbw, while Asalanka was caught in the covers.

To add to his magical over, Siraj also had Dhananjaya de Silva caught behind off the final delivery. In his very next over, he continued his brilliant form by cleaning up Dasun Shanaka.
Siraj’s aggression and impeccable bowling proved to be the driving force behind India’s dominant performance in the final.
