Rahul Dravid’s Farewell as Head Coach
India head coach Rahul Dravid announced that this will be his last match with Team India. The BCCI had invited applications for the post of head coach of the team a few days ago and at the moment Gautam Gambhir’s name is at the forefront. “This is my last tournament as a coach,” Dravid said ahead of India’s first match against Ireland in New York. Yes, unfortunately, at this point in my life, I don’t think I will be able to apply again, given the kind of schedule I find myself in. So this will undoubtedly be my last competition.

In November 2021, Dravid took over the reins of the Indian team from Ravi Shastri. It was expected that the ODI World Cup in October-November last year would be his last World Cup as India’s coach, but he expressed his desire to remain with the team till the 2024 Twenty20 World Cup. He said, “I love doing this job. I am very happy to be the coach of India and I think it is a really special job. I have a great group of good players on this team.
Dravid’s Impact and Legacy:
During Dravid’s tenure, India won 14 out of 17 Twenty20 series. This also includes the series against England and New Zealand. India won 10 out of 14 ODI series and 6 out of 8 Test series during this period. “Honestly, I don’t think it is anything special or significant. I have always felt every match is important and that is not going to change,” Dravid said.
