BCCI Discusses IPL 2025 Mega Auction Rules with Franchise Owners

Key Proposals and Changes in IPL 2025
In this meeting, the number of retentions should be 5 to 6, a mega auction should be held every five years, the purse should be increased, players should be given performance-based increases and uncapped players should be increased. As per the information, franchises may be allowed to keep at least two uncapped players in separate slots. Many teams have worked hard on uncapped players for the past two to three years and don’t want to lose them.

Importance of Uncapped Players
Teams like Mumbai, Kolkata, Punjab, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Lucknow have developed uncapped players who have shown promise. For example:
- Mumbai: Nehal Vadra, Naman Dhir, Akash Madhwal
- Kolkata: Vaibhav Arora, Ramandeep Singh, Suyesh Sharma
- Punjab: Harpreet Brar, Ashutosh Sharma, Shashank Singh, Prabhsimran Singh
- Chennai: Mukesh Chaudhary, Simarjit Singh, Sameer Rizvi
- Hyderabad: Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abdul Samad
- Bangalore: Yash Dayal, Vijaykumar Vishak, Anuj Rawat, Mahipal Lomror

Proposed Modified Rules
- Player Retention: Franchises may be allowed to retain 5 or 6 players.
- Uncapped Players: Teams may be allowed to place uncapped players in additional slots.
- Impact Player Rule: Likely to remain.
- Right to Match (RTM): One RTM may be available for each team.
- Franchise Purse: Increase in the purse of the franchises.
- Mega Auction: To be held every five years.
