Virat Kohli’s Form Concerns in T20 World Cup 2024
In IPL 2024, Virat Kohli scored 741 runs in the Orange Cap. So fans are expecting a similar incredible performance from him in the Twenty20 World Cup. But, in the three matches played in New York, Virat has yet to score double runs. The same aggressiveness that Virat was seen playing with Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2024 is missing from Team India. The Indian team indeed entered the Super 8 by registering three consecutive wins on the strength of team performance, but Virat’s form is becoming a concern for the team.

Lack of Preparation and Its Impact
Virat has scored 1, 4, and 0 runs against Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA respectively in the Twenty20 World Cup. For the first time in the Twenty20 World Cup, Virat has been dismissed for a single run in three consecutive matches. He was dismissed for a golden duck against the USA and this was his first golden duck in a World Cup tournament. Before the World Cup, Virat did not practice enough and because of that, he had to miss the warm-up match against Bangladesh. India’s final group game is against Canada on June 15, after which the team will travel to Barbados for the Super 8s. India’s practice session was canceled due to bad weather in Florida.

Dubey on Kohli’s Potential for a Comeback
The Indian team is least concerned about Kohli’s form, as Shivam Dubey’s reply to King Kohli’s form question makes clear. “Who am I to talk about Kohli? If he doesn’t score in three matches, he can score three centuries in the next three matches and there will be no further discussion. We all know his game and how he plays,” said Dubey.
Dubey himself went through a bad patch on the tricky New York pitch, scoring just three runs in India’s first two matches against Ireland and Pakistan respectively. The Chennai Super Kings batsman made a strong comeback against the US scoring 31 runs off 35 balls. “I was struggling with my form and focusing on my game. There was no pressure here. All the support staff and coaches supported me and told me, ‘It’s difficult, but you can hit sixes, so go for it.
