Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Fifty; Recorded 4 big records, achieved a big

West Indies vs India 1st Test Live: The Indian team dominated the first test match. After the spin of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, the young player’s Yashashvi Jaiswal and captain By Rohit Sharma Put Windies on the back foot. Yashasvi made three major records by hitting a half-century on debut and along with Rohit, recorded a major record for India after 17 years.

The first day of the first Test against the West Indies was played by India. Skipper Craig Braithwaite (20) and Tagenarayan Chanderpaul (12) were dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin. Shardul Thakur took the wicket of Raymond Reifer (2) and Jadeja dismissed Jermaine Blackwood (14) and Joshua da Silva (2) to send the Windies to the dressing room for 76 runs. Jason Holder (18) and debutant Elic Athanase (47) added 41 runs off 108 balls for the sixth wicket. The Windies team returned to the tent by 150 runs. Ashwin bowled a spell of 24.3-6-60-5. Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets while Mohammad Siraj and Shardul Thakur took 1 wicket each.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma The new pair gave India a good start and by the end of the day they had added 80 runs for no loss. Windies immediately called on the spinners to get the duo out, even bringing in experience Jason Holder to bowl, but the pair could not break through.

There was an LBW appeal for Rohit in Kemar Roach’s second over, a DRS was taken after the on-field umpire gave it not out, and there too Rohit was saved by the umpires’ call. Yashasvi completed his half-century on debut. He scored 7 fours in 104 balls and also completed a century partnership with Rohit. He became the eighth Indian batsman to score a fifty on Test debut.

The opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi became the first Indian pair to put up a century partnership against the West Indies in 17 years. Earlier in 2006 Wasim Jaffer and Virender Sehwag had done this feat.

Yashasvi became the third young Indian batsman to score 50+ on debut. Abbas Baig achieved this feat against England in 1959 at the age of 20 years and 126 days and Washington Sudhar in 2021 against Australia at the age of 21 years and 102 days. Yashasva is 21 years and 196 days old.
