Big Bash League 2024: Player Drafts Announced for Men’s and Women’s Tournaments
Preparations for the 2024 Big Bash League (BBL) are in full swing, with the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) expected to take place from October 27 to December 1, and the Men’s Big Bash League (BBL) from December 15 to January 27. Cricket Australia has revealed the first set of players for both tournaments, with 10 players each being named in the drafts. This season marks the tenth edition of the BBL, and players have been categorized into Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze tiers.

Key Players in the Women’s Draft
Among the notable names in the WBBL draft are Indian team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, all-rounder Deepti Sharma, and batter Jemima Rodrigues. England’s top stars, Sophie Ecclestone and Heather Knight, are also part of the draft. Harmanpreet Kaur, who is currently part of the Melbourne Renegades, has a strong chance of being re-signed by the team through the draft process.
Sophie Ecclestone, recognized as one of the best bowlers in both ODI and T20 formats, is expected to attract significant attention. The Sydney Sixers, keen to retain her, will face the challenge of securing her at the platinum price during the first round of selections.
