Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is once again in the limelight. After the ICC ODI World Cup, foreign coaches were unhappy with the major changes in the team. There were reports that a decision was taken to remove all of them from the post. All three foreign coaches have resigned from their posts, while the PCB has dissolved the captain selection committee and replaced the coach with the team director, the PCB said.
In the ODI World Cup held in India, after an embarrassing performance, Babar Azam had to step down as captain of all three formats. The selection committee, headed by Inzamam-ul-Haq, was dismissed during the tournament itself. Now, the Pakistan Cricket Board has said that foreign coaches Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick have resigned from their positions with the national team and the board.
All of them were given other responsibilities after the ODI World Cup. He was assigned the responsibility of the National Cricket Academy. Along with these three, bowling coach Morne Morkel was with the Pakistan team in the World Cup. Pakistan could not even reach the knockout stage of the tournament, after which PCB managing committee chief Zaka Ashraf referred them to the NCA. All three refused and returned home on leave.
Morkel resigned immediately after the World Cup. All three have been asked to resign on their own, a reliable source in the board said. According to the contract, if the PCB had sacked them, they would have had to pay six months’ salary. Sources said that talks with the trio have been successful, and they have agreed to resign by the end of January.
