Karun Nair Creates History with Four Consecutive Centuries in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25

Karun Nair Centuries: After the quarter-final matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2024-25 only four teams have started playing. The semi-final matches will start from January 15 and there have been many notable performances including Karun Nair. The Vidarbha captain has been performing impressively in this tournament.

Karun Nairโ€™s Record-Breaking Streak

Nair may not have played much international cricket but that hasnโ€™t stopped him from producing some of his best performances in domestic cricket this season.

The 33-year-old continued his purple streak at VHT where he hit his fourth consecutive century in the quarter-final against Rajasthan and became the third Indian batsman to hit four consecutive centuries in List A cricket after Karnatakaโ€™s Devdutt Padikal and Tamil Nadu star Narayan Jagadeesan. He also equalled Jagadeesanโ€™s tally of five centuries at the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25.

Talking about the match, the Rajasthan team put up a competitive total of 291 runs on the board. However, the Nair-led Vidarbha side had different ideas as openers Dhruv Shorey and Yash Rathore put on a 92-run partnership for the first wicket.

After Rathoreโ€™s dismissal, the Vidarbha skipper joined Shorey and scored another incredible century. Nair remained unbeaten with 122 runs off just 82 balls. This was enough for Vidarbha to reach the semi-finals, eventually winning by nine wickets. Nairโ€™s innings included 13 fours and five sixes and his strike rate was 148.78.

This inning made Nair the highest run-scorer in the VHT so far where he has scored 664 runs in six innings and averages 664. It has been a dream run for Nair in domestic cricket and it is safe to say that he has led from the front in this tournament.

The next two players on the run list are Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal (619 runs in eight innings) and Punjab wicketkeeper-batsman Prabhasimran Singh (498 runs in eight innings).
