India to Host Asia Cup 2025
India has been awarded the hosting rights for the Asia Cup 2025. This tournament will be played in the T20 format. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) confirmed this while inviting hosts for various tournaments from 2024 to 2027. The Asia Cup 2027 will be hosted by Bangladesh. Both tournaments will feature six teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and a sixth team determined through qualifiers. A total of 13 matches will be played in each tournament

Uncertainty Over Champions Trophy 2025
The Champions Trophy 2025 will be hosted by Pakistan. However, it is unclear if the Indian team will tour Pakistan for this tournament. Despite repeated claims that the Indian Team will not tour Pakistan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is seeking a written response from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Amidst this uncertainty, The Indian team’s hosting of the Asia Cup 2025 indicates that the Pakistani cricket team will have to tour India next year.

Previous Asia Cup in Hybrid Model
The Asia Cup 2023 was initially hosted by Pakistan. However, due to India’s refusal to play in Pakistan, the tournament was conducted in a hybrid model. All of India’s matches were played in Sri Lanka, where Sri Lanka eventually won the tournament. This hybrid model was a solution to the ongoing political tensions between the two countries regarding hosting rights and travel issues for cricket tournaments.
