The IPL 2024 tournament has begun with speculations in the IPL Mini Auction, where teams spent significantly to acquire players. However, the Afghanistan Cricket Board has acted against Mujeeb ur Rehman, Fazalhaq Farooqui, and Naveen ul Haq.
These three prioritized personal interests over playing for Afghanistan, leading to the board postponing their annual contracts for 2024. The board has also decided not to grant NOC to these players for the next two years, revoking previously issued NOCs.
This complicates their participation in the IPL 2024 tournament, as an NOC from the country’s cricket board is a prerequisite for IPL involvement. Franchises, including Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Lucknow, may face a shock due to the lack of NOCs.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman will play for Kolkata Knight Riders, Fazal Haq Farooqui for Sunrisers Hyderabad, while Naveen Ul Haq will play for Lucknow Super Giants.
According to the Afghanistan Cricket Board, the three have expressed their desire to opt out of the annual contract from January 1, 2024. It has also sought permission to play in a private league.
After this, the cricket board formed a committee and asked Shahnisha to do it. After that action has been taken against these three players.
All these three players played for Afghanistan in ODI World Cup. Afghanistan’s performance in this tournament has been tremendous. Afghanistan had won 5 out of 9 matches.
Great teams like England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka were defeated in this. The team was also in the semi-final race. Naveen Ul Haq retired from ODI cricket after the World Cup. Recently played in the T10 league held in Abu Dhabi.
