After making it to the playoffs in the IPL 2022 and 2023 seasons, LSG missed the playoffs for the first time in 2024. The LSG points ranked seventh in the table with a poor net run rate.

According to the IANS report, Monday’s press conference may have one or both of them. Either the new LSG captain’s announcement or the franchise’s new jersey can be unveiled. Some players of the team are likely to attend the press conference.

Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Puran: Potential Captains for LSG

Last year, the IPL mega-auction took place in Jeddah. In this auction, Lucknow bought India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant for Rs 27 crore. Pant has become the most expensive player to be sold so far in the IPL auction. LSG may appoint Pant as the new captain of the franchise.

Pant was the captain of Delhi Capitals from IPL 2021 to 2024. However, due to the accident, he did not captain the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023. He was replaced by David Warner commanding the franchise. Pant did not retain Pant before IPL 2025. In such a situation, he was seen on the ground.

Talking about other claimants of Lucknow Super Giants, Nicholas Puran is in the team. The franchise retained him for Rs 21 crore. Nicholas Puran has also captained LSG in a match. Lucknow also won in this match.
