Half-Century in Record Time
Both Prithvi Shaw and Ayush got off to a fast start for the first wicket. The duo added 52 runs in 7.2 overs. Then Ayush Mhatre returned with 14 runs on the third ball of the eighth over. After Ayush, Hardik Tamore entered the fray. Prithvi Shaw kept Mumbai’s scoreboard moving with Hardik. Prithvi then hit a four off the first ball of the 12th over to complete his half-century in just 37 balls. This was Prithvi’s 18th half-century in first-class cricket. Prithvi scored his half-century at a strike rate of 135.1.
Mumbai Takes Control
Meanwhile, the Rest of India scored 416 runs in 110 overs in the first innings in reply to Mumbai’s 537 runs. This gave Mumbai a lead of 121 runs. Abhimanyu Easwaran scored 191 runs for Rest of India. Dhruv Jurel contributed 93 runs. Apart from these two, Ishan Kishan 38, Sai Sudarshan 32, and Devdutt Padikkal contributed 16 runs. The other four could not even reach double figures. The last 2 batsmen could not even crack the pumpkin. Tanush Kotian and Shams Mulani took 3 wickets each for Mumbai. Mohit Awasthi eliminated both of them. While M Khan took 1 wicket and gave good support to others.
