The eighth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL 2024) kicked off on July 5th in Salem, where nine matches were held. The tournament now moves to its second leg at the Sri Ramakrishna College Ground in Coimbatore, where eight matches will be played until the 18th.

Current Standings and Key Matches

The TNPL 2024 tournament features eight teams, each playing against the others once. The top four teams on the points table will qualify for the play-off round. Four-time champions Chepauk Super Gillies, currently in fifth place with 2 points from 3 matches, will face the Dindigul Dragons in a crucial encounter on Sunday at 7:15 PM. The Super Gillies, led by Baba Aparajith, will aim for their second win of the tournament. They lost their first match to the Coimbatore Kings by 13 runs, and their second to the Nellai Royal Kings by 3 wickets. However, they bounced back to defeat Tirupur Tamizhans by 15 runs in their third match.

Key players for Chepauk include Jegatheesan, who has scored 117 runs, and Pradosh Ranjan Paul with 107 runs. In the bowling department, Daryl Ferrario, Abhishek Tanwar, and Periyasamy have each taken 5, 5, and 4 wickets respectively.

Dindigul Dragons’ Challenge

Dindigul Dragons, captained by R. Ashwin, are also looking for their second win. They are currently in fourth place. The Dragons won their first match against Trichy Warriors by 16 runs but lost their second match to Salem Spartans by 7 wickets.

The action continues today with two exciting matches: Madurai Panthers face Tirupur Tamizhans at 3:15 PM, followed by Coimbatore Kings versus Nellai Royal Kings at 7:15 PM. Tomorrow, Salem Spartans will take on Trichy Warriors at 3:15 PM, setting the stage for a double-header day.
